I believe that if you are serious about your walk with God you should stop smoking. God's temple, your body, must be honoured. For many years I was a very heavy smoker (70 sigs a day) but when I repented and asked God for forgiveness and then accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, the urge to smoke left me. I felt is was dirty and ruining my health so this got my mind into the right frame. Both my parents were smokers that's how I caught the habit. It is a habit and as such can be broken if you have the will to do so and you ask Jesus to help you. I must admit the urge came back later but I was now strong enough with the Lord's help to resist. Be strong my friend and set your mind to stopping. Just say " NO " each time and don't be temped with smokes in easy reach. Friends will try and talk you into starting again but, like the devil, resist the temptation and eventually you will gain the victory. Believe me as I talk from experience. May God bless you and give you strength. To encourage you read Psalm 51. Yours in Christ, KJ. |

3 | Is smoking a sin? | 1 Cor 3:16 | John Reformed | 90945 | ||
Dear KJ, Jude 1:24 "Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy," I'm a bit puzzled. You said "when I repented and asked God for forgiveness and then accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, the urge to smoke left me." If it was God that took away the urge to smoke, what part did your own strength of will play? I'm sure you give God all the glory. Therefore, any will power which you exercised must also have been His gift to you as well. True? Your Brother, John Reformed |
