1 | should all we be speaking tongues aloud | 1 Cor 14:23 | hodgit | 187131 | ||
Acts 14: 23-31 What do you think, if we are all in the church sanctuary worshiping in tongues aloud, do you think that we should be silent and only speak the tongue to ourselves like the scripture is referring? In other words does anyone believe that we should keep quiet and the only tongues that should be heard are the gift of prophecy and interpretation - and only two or at the most three in an orderly fashion. Hope you all can grasp what Im getting at. Sorry if im not sounding clear. I used to believe and participate in worship by speaking in tongues aloud with the rest of the church, but now, after studying the scriptures I must admit I have come to the conclusion that I should be quiet unless I have a word of prophecy (tongue and interpretation). Most "Pentecostal" churches I know do worship aloud in tongues but is it a "COPIED" practice or maybe a pentecostal doctrine that now I think maybe a wrong one. Interested to hear comments on this subject. Hodgit. |

Greetings Hodgit! You are exactly right my friend! Scripture specifically states that only two or three should speak, and even then, only one at a time. 1 Cor. 14:26 - "What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church. 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two—or at the most three—should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and God."
