Greetings Friend! Just a quick note about you comments concerning the phrase 'in one Spirit'. It simply is not true that one must limit the phase to mean only the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The preposition and word used could mean several things. It could mean that the Holy Spirit is the one doing the baptism. Or, it could mean that the Holy Spirit is the medium being used for the baptism. But, there is almost no chance of it meaning what your post claims - that we learn about our need for baptism through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In fact, you appeal to Eph. 6:17, but an entirely different phrase is used in that verse. Therefore, it cannot be used as an illustration of how to interpret the phrase in 1 Cor. 12:13. The fact that the verb 'to baptise' is used immediately prior to the phrase in question mandates that it be translated as either 'by one Spirit' or 'in one Spirit'.
