Your question: "Should we ask God for the gift of tongue"? An answer: It is the Holy Spirit who gives the gifts "just as HE wills." It is the Holy Spirit, not man, who decides which gift the Spirit will give to each believer. 1 Corinthians 12:11 NASB "But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills." Note that 1 Corinthians 12:11 appears in the context of Spiritual gifts (see preceding verses). TEV 1 Cor 12:11 "But it is one and the same Spirit who does all this; as he wishes, he gives a different gift to each person." Again, HE, the Holy Spirit, GIVES A DIFFERENT GIFT TO EACH PERSON. That He gives a different gift to each person indicates that the same gift is not given to all of us. To read previous postings on this subject, in the Search box enter tongues. |
