1 | I am confused | Rom 8:30 | EJJ | 229681
God has foreordained, determined, predestinated that all men be called to salvation, but only the ones who accept become genuine called ones to be justified and glorified. None are glorified, but those who according to His purpose, meet the terms of the gospel. Who they will be is left up to the individual. All things depend upon meeting the conditions of the gospel. (Jn.3:16, 1Tim.2:4, 2Pet.3:9, Rev. 22:17, Mk.16:16, Acts 2:38, 3:19, Rom.8:1-13,28)

Hello EJJ, Welcome to the Forum. I'm a little unclear as to where you're headed with your terminology:-) Rom 8:30 says, "...and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified." (NASB) After those "He also glorified", I see nothing about "meet(ing) the terms of the gospel"? You say "All things depend upon meeting the conditions of the gospel." What exactly are those conditions? Are you speaking to our salvation or our santification? I note that in Rom. 4:4 we're told, "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS." In Heb. 11:8, it says, "By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed..." So, what "conditions of the gospel" are there besides the obedience of faith? It sounds a bit like you're advocating a works-righteousness? Speaking the truth in Love, BradK |

Sorry I was unclear. No I am by no means advocating a works righeousness. If we could do enough to obtain it Christ would not of had to die for us. In the verses I left they speak of the conditions, first you must believe, accept the call to salvation, then you must repent (turn from sin) and be led by the Spirit and not the flesh.(this is the transformation that takes place) And yes we are human and we will fail, I understand this. Believe me I do. But we are daily being led by the Spirit and transformed. I think Romans 8 is clear on the change from being led by the flesh to being led by the Spirit. |
