1 | Lanny, What is your definition of sin? | Rom 6:2 | Reformer Joe | 24075
Probably his definition would be something weaker than this: Sin is any want of conformity unto, or transgression of, the law of God. (Westminster Shorter Catechism, Answer to Question 14) ANY lack of conforming completely (heart, soul, mind, strength) to God's commandments or any violation of them in the slightest (in heart, soul, or mind) is sin. Who measures up? Only Christ. --Joe! |

2 | Lanny, What is your definition of sin? | Rom 6:2 | Sir Pent | 24078
Personal Note .................................... Dear Joe, Lanny already gave his definition of sin. It is different than yours, but I don't think it is accurate to call it "weaker". |

3 | Lanny, What is your definition of sin? | Rom 6:2 | Reformer Joe | 24083
Thanks for pointing it out. These threads can get quite messy! I do think it leaves questions. What do you think would be "accidental" disobedience? To answer that one didn't know what we are to obey would imply that God's moral law is not written on the conscience (which would contradict Romans 2:12-16) and also condemn the Christian for not knowing God's written revelation in the Bible. Otherwise, "accidental disobedience" must mean some kind of "slip-up." How does one accidentally disobey if they know what the law of God says? --Joe! |
