canawedding, Please, stop the self-righteous, "holier-than-thou" attitude. You do not have an exclusive corner on the truth! Matt. 6:33 is not the sum total of everything taught in scripture and it is not the only scripture! Prov. 19:20 says- " Listen to counsel and accept discipline, That you may be wise the rest of your days." Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Greetings Anne! Matt. 6:33 is a wonderful verse of Scripture, but I believe that you are taking it out of context. Your contention seems to be that Mt. 6:33 is somehow the central verse on salvation and that the 'first' step in salvation is seeking His kingdom. However, salvation is not the context of the passage. The context of the passage is worry and prayer. We are told that before we 'seek' other things, - like food, drink, and clothing -, we must seek His kingdom first. Scripture lays out the plan of salvation quite clearly. We must acknowledge that we are sinners (Rom. 3:23). We must understand both penalty of sin and the gift that Christ offers us (Rom. 6:23). We must know that His gift is motivated by His love for us (Rom. 5:8). We must confess and believe, calling upon the name of the Lord and we will be saved (Rom. 10:9, 13). There is no big mystery concerning how to be saved! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
