If I am in need, do I have the right to ask you to pray for me? And, will you then pray for me, if I ask. Are you not then interceding with God on my behalf. Are you not assisting me; as service to God. Do I not have the right to ask the Saints to pray for me? You must understand, the Saints are still living, only in heaven and not on earth. Do you feel that the Saints are not allowed to continue serving God in the same way they did while their bodies where alive, and in the same manner in which you will do for me? |

Yes, Brian.g, if you have a need, then I will certainly pray for you! However, whether I or the next guy prays for you, all the prayers go to one Person, that is, Jesus Christ, our Master in Heaven, and the more prayers, the better! I agree with you when you say, "Are you not then interceding with God on my behalf. Are you not assisting me; as service to God.", because this is what we must do and coincides with the Biblical interpretation of servanthood. (To labor for our brothers and sisters in prayer.) However, where in Scripture does it state that the Saints are moving and active in heaven? Please show me where, exactly. As for me, I am not comfortable basing my presuppositions on what is not clearly stated in Scripture or even coincides with Scripture. All my confidence rests in Him, the Savior, alone, and He is the only Person of whom my prayers will be directed towards. Even if I could pray to a specific saint, do they have any power at all or authority that even compares to Jesus Christ? Are they also omniscient, all knowing, and omnipresent? The Bible tells me that only Three are like this, (the Trinity), and Jesus Christ is one of Them. Therefore, my prayers will be directed to Him and Him only, and not to any created being such as a saint.. Aren't you and I saints? How dare I usurp the opportunity that I have as a believer in Christ by praying to anything other than Him!! Nolan |
