1 | i do believe..but this troubles me | Rom 1:27 | Sir Pent | 116521
My perspective as a scientist...................................... Hello Ptgard05, In you post you mentioned that the Bible condemns homosexuality. You also said that you believe that science has proven that homosexuals are born that way. Finally you correctly say that God wouldn't condemn someone for something that they were forced into from birth. That only leaves two possibilities. Either the Bible does not really condemn homosexuality (which you seem to be hoping and trying to prove), or people are not really born in such a way that they are forced to commit homosexual acts. It is interesting that you seem to doubt your understanding of the Bible more than you doubt your understanding of science. I am a scientist with my degree in Chemistry/Biology, and I work in research and development at a biotech company. I have also been a Christian for a very long time. Speaking with experience in both areas, I can say with confidence that you are correct in your understanding of the Bible and incorrect in your understanding of the science. |

I don't have confidence in either areas, as I have studied them both, but there is so much information it is hard to grasp it all. I know from a close friend (actually a relative) that is gay that he was born homosexual. I tried to find some studies that would prove this and found that there are some, but the scientific field on this subject is limited and no definite answer has surfaced yet. You say you work in a biotech company and that science proves that homosexuals aren't born that way, but you are incorrect becuase no answer has been established, only medical studies (which have points for both sides of the case). I was trying to find that the Bible didn't condemn homosexuality b/c it would be easier to grasp...God created them this way afterall (or so I believe as you may not). |

ptgard05, How do you know that your relative "that is gay that he was born homosexual?" That's very subjective, my friend. It is more of an excuse than it is a valid reason. I had a friend too, (from our church) that was gay. Though he has changed and is now married in a heterosexual relationship (Praise God) I never bought into the idea that he was "born homosexual". Without trying to be snide, Are some then born "pedophiles", "murderers", "rapists", "arsonists", etc. Man can ALWAYS excuse away his behavior! God calls it sin. What we have to address and come to an understanding on is this: Do we believe God or man? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

My friend is my relative. I know for a fact that he is telling the truth, because he himself has had medical tests done on himself. There are no studies what-so-ever that show pedophiles or murderers being born that way. That is truly a stretch.

ptgard05, Yes, it was a stretch- it's called HYPERBOLE! I used it on purpose to make my point:-) They performed medical tests on him and determined that he was homosexual from birth? That seems like a stretch to me. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
