1 | i do believe..but this troubles me | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116477
I am confused about this verse and am just thinking of the possiblities. Maybe this verse applied to the straight people of this time as some of the verses in the Bible do not apply to all of the people of that timeperiod. I dont kno.
2 | i do believe..but this troubles me | Rom 1:27 | Emmaus | 116485
ptgard, Here is Paul in another letter. It is perfectly in accord with what he says in Romans 1:27. 1 Cor 6:9 "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals," Heterosexual adulters have something to be concerned about too. But there are those today who hate the institution of monagomous marriage that will point to scientific studies that they say proves men and women are by nature promiscuous and polygamous. Sound familar? Man because of his fallen state is prey to all his disordered desires. They are not natural as God created man to be. Our own consciences tell us that when we sin, even though we thought is was "the natural thing to do" at the time we did it. That is why we need redemption and grace, all of us. Emmaus |

3 | i do believe..but this troubles me | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116553
The verse that you submitted can't be taken word for word. The word "homosexual" wasn't even made up untill the early 1800's when it became an issue. You have to go back to the original texts to see that this verse does not actually say anything about homosexuality.
4 | i do believe..but this troubles me | Rom 1:27 | Sir Pent | 116564
Referral to another thread........................................... Hello again Ptgard05, You seem to be saying that the Bible that people read today can't be trusted to mean what it says. Do you really believe that God allowed His message to humanity to be so corrupted that the only way to understand it is to become fluent in ancient greek and hebrew and obtain copies of the original texts? This subject has been discussed before, and I would encourage you to type in the number 15780 into the "Quick Search" box at the top right corner of the screen. That post summarizes my thoughts as well as many others on this forum. You have previously stated that you believe that "the Bible is the ultimate truth". However, that doesn't mean anything if you are at liberty to take a verse that you don't like and say that the words there are wrong. Then YOU become your own ultimate truth. |

5 | i do believe..but this troubles me | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116651
I never said the words were "wrong". I just said that the original texts could mean something different. I am not arguing that the Lord is wrong. But in your message you wrote "Do you really believe that God allowed His message to humanity to be so corrupted..." This is not that good of an argument b/c the Lord has allowed many false religions to creep into society (which also rule out Christianity for the top religion). So, you can't say that the Lord wouldn't allow fallible humans to corrupt His words....remember the humans that translate the Bible are just that- fallible.

Once again you distort the facts. Christianity is the biggest religion in the world representing 33 percent of the world population. The next closest is Islam (which also bans homosexuality) at 20 percent. EdB |
