1 | Why did Jesus preach repentance?: | Rom 1:27 | Pastor Glenn | 92992 | ||
gbennett76, Your outragious remark: "Christians are free to .... .... But homosexuality is somehow taboo. " Do you realize that you mention two separate groups, since a homosexual is no longer a "homosexual" after repenting from homosexuallity? We are not "Christians" until "after repenting" and accepting Jesus Christ. In your reasoning is it not "taboo" to cheat on your spouse? Why did Jesus preach repentance?: Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Luke 24 44 Then He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me." 45And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. 46Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise[8] from the dead the third day, 47and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. For starters we as Christians never need to call someones questions outragious. Its a question, which means the person asking it needs an understanding. Repent is for corrections and a way to ask God to forgive you! To let God know that you are sorry for what you have done, and to let him know that you are trying to be like Jesus and walk right, and reframe from as much sin as possible. Jesus preached this because to repent is to help keep that closer relationship with God. I think as Christians we want reasons for why we need to do things. If God said repent, then i personally don't question it. Jesus repented thoughts of doing things wrong, and since I want to walk like him I will do the same also. Repent the thought and the action, asking for forgivness! I may not have answered your question, but sometimes we just need to do things, just because we know that they are right, and are there to help us and not harm us. |
