Ed, Colossians 1:9 9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; This should be our prayer for one another on the forum. Once again I ask...Who made you the final judge of correct scriptural interpretation? Are you a HUMAN? Are you FALLABLE? Purhaps some humility might be in order for you. Once again I remind you, this is an open forum BIBLE STUDY and you do it a great injustice by not simply presenting your opposing views scripturally and allowing the Holy Spirit to do the rest. You have violated two of the four recomendations from the foundation... 2. This post is not intended as a personal attack on the authority of the Bible OR on other USERS of this forum. 3. This post is not submitted as an effort to foster divisiveness, ill-will, dissension or other disruptions to this forum. This is not conducive to a Spirit guided Bible study. God bless |

Graceful First I'm not the judge nor jury, nor have I claimed to be. Word of Faith has been declared a cult by those that make those calls. I'm told this was done very carefully and only after the false doctrine was thoroughly examined and the leaders of the WOF movement interviewed and the matter discussed with them. I know in some cases at such meetings the leaders admitted their error and promised correction only to recant later. I also know some denominations, in fact I believe most, have issued statements addressing the errors within Word of Faith doctrine. I know my Lord and Savior is no WORM and for anyone to support any teaching that would call Jesus a worm to me turns on a big flashing red light warning me of false teaching. This is not a question of my humility or even of yours it is a question of whether the falsehoods of Word of Faith should be presented here as scriptural truths of which they are not. This post was not written as a personal attack on anyone but rather an attack on the falsehoods within WOF. The only person that would view this post or any I have written on this matter as divisive are those that hold to the falsehoods of WOF. We as Christians are called to defend the faith, that is what I and others are doing when we speak out about the heresy of Word of Faith. It is my prayer that forum returns to Bible Study rather than a place for each of us to present what we believe and opinions, what doctrine we agree or disagree with, or what teaching we support or don’t. However as long as there are those that come on this forum and present a different gospel I pray there will people that will stand up and boldly proclaim that it is a false gospel and do everything they can to insure it is not promoted or taught on this forum. I ask every true Christian on this forum to link arms and stand in gap and fight the good fight, but to do it not with vengeance or malice but to do it in a way that the truth can be seen. EdB |

EdB, it may be that this reference to Jesus as worm derives from Psa 22:6 "But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people", combined with Jdg 10:1,2 "And after Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim. And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir", conflated with Job 25:6 "How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?" The name Tola means "The scarlet worm", a white worm whose crushing produced a red dye (the life cycle of this worm is also highly interesting), thus the analog to Jesus. The worm of the messianic psalm is also this variety as is the The Job worm, so I can imagine how the scarlet worm analog might evoke the magical realism necessary to evoke the Jesus-worm fantasy. God uses earthly things to point to Jesus (the Tabernacle in Heb 8.5, for ex.), so the worm seems to be a clear metaphor. A study on the name and life of Tola and the history of the scarlet worm sounds like a good idea. I like your posts. Colin |

Colin Metaphor yes but as a description no! The discussion started over Copeland and some of his teaching. Radioman2 pointed out that Copeland describes Jesus as emancipated worm that was taken to hell to be tormented for our sins by Satan. None of which is sustainable by scripture. In there lies my objection to this teaching. I also object to anyone calling Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior a WORM. EdB |
