Greetings Darcy and Searcher, Here's some Biblical proof to support what Searcher has said.. :-) "16:17,18 These signs were promised to the apostolic community (Matt. 10:1; 2 Cor. 12:12), not all believers in all ages (cf. 1 Cor. 12:29,30). All (with the exception of drinking poison) were experienced by some in the apostolic church and reported in Scripture (e.g., Acts 28:5), but not afterward (cf. v. 20)." Makarios, I believe that most of those signs are still around. The picking up snakes I dunno havn't picked one up recently nor do I plan on it any time soon. :) Or drinking anything poisonous, I don't think I have done that lately, I'll have to ask the wife :) But speaking in tongues, and the healings I believe still happen. But I'm sure this has been talked about alot on this form. So its one of those things to agree to disagree with. God Bless you, Darcy |

Greetings Darcy! And I presupposed that you were a woman! :-) I apologize. I posted that response to you, since that point of view (that those signs only existed with the Apostles), does have substantial support in Scripture. But no major Christian doctrine hinges on that bit of Scripture, and Mark 16:9-20 is even doubted among those who study the Greek texts as belonging to the Gospel of Mark. So it is no big thing to disagree about this bit of Scripture, even though I would strongly admonish not to drink poison or pick up snakes.. :-) Blessings to you, Makarios |
