"...in Him the purpose which it (the law) was designed to accomplish is fulfilled." Hank: One definition of the word "end" is "an outcome worked toward : PURPOSE." Thus, without distorting the meaning, but rather to clarify it, Rom 10:4 could also be stated as: "Christ fulfilled the purpose of the law..." Christ is the fulfillment of Moses' Teachings so that everyone who has faith may receive God's approval. Rom 10:4 God's Word Translation Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the Law [the limit at which it ceases to be, for the Law leads up to Him Who is the fulfillment of its types, and in Him the purpose which it was designed to accomplish is fulfilled. That is, the purpose of the Law is fulfilled in Him] as the means of righteousness (right relationship to God) for everyone who trusts in and adheres to and relies on Him. Are we free from the moral law contained in the Ten Commandments? Apparently we are not. In practice at least, the Ten Commandments have become obsolete in the United States of America. And look at the result: widespread violence, crime and anarchy. |

Good points kalos! They were partly right in the 60's when they said that love is the answer--they just weren't looking at the source! |
