1 | Ten Commandments obsolete? | Rom 10:4 | CoolRob | 13028 | ||
I have a question. When Jesus said we are to keep His commandments, was he referring to the 10 commandments, the 613 commandments, or the commandments that He gave in the gospels ? ** I ask this question because the commandments that Jesus gave in the gospels encompass the 10 commandments. |

CoolRob, all three. Is John 14:15 the verse you are talking about? Is Christ the Lawgiver (Jas 4:12)? I'd say yes to both. The 613 are all based on the 10, where are summed up in two - to love God with your all and your neighbor as yourself. Then Christ gave us tougher commandments in the NT. I think the only ones that we don't have to follow are the ones of blood sacrifice (Heb 10). However, in John 15:10, we see the Father also gave Him commandments. Are these for Him alone? I do not know. Is the Lawgiver in Isa 33:22, the Father. Whose commandements are the ones in Lev 22:31 - the Father's ot Christ's? Steve |
