I don't have any scripture to back me up, but I think the answer is yes to a certain degree. Maybe not an intimate relationship with God, but a relationship with God. I didn't go to church for over 20 years and didn't read the Bible, but God was very much a part of my life and I knew it. But knowing the Bible helps put some things in perspective that wouldn't otherwise be if you didn't have it. | ||||||

In adding to the mention of Enoch. I want to say that if you understand faith in Christ and how that the Holy Spirit is real you will know that you can indeed commune with God and have God speak truths to your heart that later you will see written in the Bible and you had not even read it before the Lord spoke it to your spirit man. This is the essence of the new covenant, that we would have a heart of flesh and not of stone, that we would hear a voice saying "this is the way , walk ye in it." This does not mean we have a right to make up wierd doctrines that contradict the Word. When one is yielded to the Holy Spirit and Faith in Christ they will hear the Spirit testify of Christ and make things plain to them. These things will always be in agreement with the written word. If they are not then that person is not being honest about communing with the Lord. It really is that simple. One who says I prayed all night and God told me to divorce my wife and marry the church secretary is not really honest. He either is lying and did not pray, or he did not come to the Lord with a pure heart saying God I will do whatever is pleasing to you and would rather die than willfully go my own way. This person would of course never pray about such a stupid thing in the first place but I use it to dramatize my point. The heart of man is the central theater in this conflict of good and evil and those that have a pure heart will see God. |
