Dear mitchhunt, I hope you ask the question out of curiosity or for bible study purpose, and it is not something concerns your own or others' experience around you. If it is the former situation, you may do a word search "suicide" on the box at the right hand corner of the screen for past discussion. If for the latter case, I strongly suggest you take humbledbyhisgrace's advice to seek for pastor's help. Shalom Azure |

Dear justme, Thank you for your concern and reply. I can tell you each time I read of such question on the forum, my heart breaks as I usually assume the questioner asked the question in concern with his/her present status. I agree with what steve said about a proper handling of the question. Sure I understand you try to help the poster. However, if I were the one who is going to suicide (usually in a confusing mind), just by reading your below statement, it will be just good enough for me to proceed. "There is no need to feel embarrassed or ashamed for anyone to feel like ending your life." Do you see the point? Anything we said must be very careful as we do not know how the person may react, and we are communicating in a remote mode after all. Let's pray for the person. Shalom Azure |

Azure: The point is telling someone they need not be embarrassed or ashamed is because these two feelings are very often the things told when talking with some who are under the influence and ready to make such a wrong choice. So I do feel you not understanding my word choices might be a cluteral thing. As I stated to Steve the very least we can do is offer Scripture. Hebrews 4:12 is very clear that the Word of God can reach the heart on anyone who is in the deepest pit. My point is as this is a Bible Study Forum, and if we are even at a basic level of being a Christian could we at least not offer some word of encouragement from Scripture? I would suggest iw a person can not do at least that, perhaps it might be better to save the question for someone who has that gift of encouragement. Not all of us has all the gifts, and it would allow the body to function better. I say this in a strong concern that unless a person has some training and experience in helping with people ready to end their life, it might cause more harm than good. I had the very sad experience of being a pastor on a city that had a group of high school students that had made a pact to kill themselves. There were a number of teenagers who ended their lives before it came to an end. A great effor to teach the School teachers and Clergy and those who had contact with those teenagers was extensive. Prayer goes with out saying. Let's ask the Lord for words to say or wisdom to do the right thing. Blessings. justme |
