1 | a physical or spiritual body? | Acts 8:22 | WalkingTalkingBible | 118128 | ||
Hi, to be "born again" is a conversion from the natural (sinful) way of life to the spiritual (Godly) way of life. In Romans 5:12, we see that sin fell on all who were born after Adam. Therefore by the first birth, which is the natural birth, we are born sinners. We lived according to the ways of the world. To be born again is to choose to accept Jesus as Savior and choose to live by the word of God. 1 Peter 1:23 says "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." So we influence our rebirth by choosing Christ as Savior and living by His word, no longer living by the course of the world. This is a daily and progressive walk, as we become more like the children God called us to be. John 3:8 means that only God knows when one meets the condition to be born again, and this is in reference to John 6:44 and John 15:16, 19. WalkingTalkingBible |

WalkinTalking Bible Thank you for taking the time to shed some light on the question about the meaning of “born again”. I agree with you that becoming a Christian is a conversion from the natural (sinful) way of life to the spiritual (Godly) way of life. The Collins Concise Dictionary gives this explanation: “conversion 1a. a change or adaptation in form, character, or function b. something changed in one of these respects. 2a change to another belief, as in a change of religion. “ No word of rebirth here. I think we should avoid speaking about rebirth if it is not appropriate. When Jesus spoke of “born again” He meant what He said. John 3:7 "Do not be amazed that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' John 3:8 "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit." My Christian brothers and sisters who of you can honestly say is born again? Nicodemus understood very well Jesus was speaking of a rebirth not of a conversion. When will this rebirth happen? John6:39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." Please read on, check your bible and study the whole chapter. 1 Cor 15: 35 But someone may ask, "How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?" 36How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. 37When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. 38But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body 1 Cor 15:42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 1 Cor 15: 50I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed-- 52in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed". I urge all of you brothers and sisters in Christ, say the truth. If you walk around in your earthly body, born of flesh, perishable, (do you experience pain? (!) you will have to die first before you can be born of the Spirit to a perfect body. But please do not listen to me but do as the Bereans did. Acts 17:11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.
