1 | Have YOU been with Jesus? | Acts 4:13 | Mommapbs | 106376
Consider this: would any know that YOU had "been with Jesus?" What should be "observable" by others? Should we be "amazing" to them? I'd appreciate your comments. Thanks BTW, I'm not wild about the Amplified translation of "confidence." I think that because many lack "unfettered eloquence" this may be a source of discouragement for some. 2 | Have YOU been with Jesus? | Acts 4:13 | wps | 106383
A Christian will portray to the world the fruit of the Spirit as outlined in II Peter I:5-11. A Christian also will be viewed by the world as different. This is to be expected since Peter describes Christians in I Peter 2:9 as a "special people". We have "been with Jesus" today when we are students and followers of His word. We are not at liberty to pick and chose which part of it we wish to be obedient to, but endeavor to follow and obey the Lord in everything. Jesus said,"If you love Me, keep my commandments." John 14:15. The Hebrews writer states "And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him," Hebrews 5:9. Finally, John states in I John 2:3 "Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments." When we strive to "walk in the light" as John states in I John I:7 and let the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanse us from sin the world will see Christ living in us and know that you "have been with Jesus." After all, when we are baptized into His body where else can we be except with the Lord? |

3 | Have YOU been with Jesus? | Acts 4:13 | Mommapbs | 106387
Greetings wps: Yes, others should see the "fruit" BUT, do they? What clouds their vision, or more importantly, what prevents us from expressing it? Your last question, "After all, when we are baptized into His body where else can we be except with the Lord?" Yes, we are "in Christ" and Christ is "in us." BUT, why do we often make choices that deny this reality? How can we effectively help and encourage one another to live abiding lives? |

4 | Have YOU been with Jesus? | Acts 4:13 | wps | 106392
We are prevented from expressing the Christian life for several reasons. These are as varied as being ignorant of God's word to being ashamed to express Christian responses to worldly situations for fear of ridicule or persecution to just plain being willfully sinful by not doing things that we know that are right. None of these are good reasons. I can't think of any good reason to not let our light shine. I hear what you're saying though, we all fall short and sin. I believe that to not live our lifes for Christ and proclaim to be His is sin. We can effectively help and encourage one another through sound Bibical teaching, fellowship with other Christians regularly and often, personal Bible study, prayer and practice. It may sound trite, but the old saying that practice makes perfect can apply to Christian living. James instructs us to be "doers of the word and not hearers only". |
