NASB | Acts 4:13 ¶ Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 4:13 ¶ Now when the men of the Sanhedrin (Jewish High Court) saw the confidence and boldness of Peter and John, and grasped the fact that they were uneducated and untrained [ordinary] men, they were astounded, and began to recognize that they had been with Jesus. |
Bible Question (short): Have YOU been with Jesus? |
Question (full): Consider this: would any know that YOU had "been with Jesus?" What should be "observable" by others? Should we be "amazing" to them? I'd appreciate your comments. Thanks BTW, I'm not wild about the Amplified translation of "confidence." I think that because many lack "unfettered eloquence" this may be a source of discouragement for some. Do read the great previous posts on this verse from Makarios and Kalos! mommapbs |
