1 | Trinity and Confusion | Acts 2:38 | Savannah | 31730
Makarios, You wrote...Therefore, a person cannot argue against the truth of the doctrine of the Trinity by saying that it is "confusing". I didn't say I was confused by it. But I know many who are. I grew up Catholic, I know all about the Trinity. You wrote... "Does the fact that God is not a God of confusion (1 Cor. 14:33) prove that the doctrine of the Trinity cannot be true, since this doctrine is hard to understand?... You told me this is an absurd suggestion. It isn't my suggestion! I think you misunderstood me. Just because I think the Trinity teaches confusion doesn't mean that I am against God's doctrine that explains confusion and understanding. If I was I would have a very difficult time reading the Bible. I'm sorry you wasted your time explaining the whole confusion thing. Look, I don't believe in the trinity. My reasons for not believing it are not soley because it teaches confusion. God Bless You, Savannah |

2 | Trinity and Confusion | Acts 2:38 | Hank | 31764
Savannah, hello and warm greetings and welcome. On this thread about the Trinity and confusion, you have left me confused by a couple of statements you have made: (1) You say you grew up Catholic and (therefore) know all about the Trinity. We have a couple of fine regular contributors to this forum, Brian and Emmaus, who happen to be Catholic and I don't recall either of them ever saying that he knew ALL about the Trinity or, for that matter, ALL about any other topic that has come before this forum. Is your statement altogether accurate? Do you know all about the Trinity? (2) The second area that causes my confusion is that in the same post you assert that, knowing all about it, you don't believe in the Trinity. If one may take that to mean that you don't believe there is any such entity as the Trinity, how could you not BELIEVE in something that you already KNOW all about? Let me illustrate: If one already knows that he doesn't have three hands, it is moot to discuss belief, one way or another, because it requires no faith, no belief, to conclude in the face of absolute knowledge, that he has two hands, not three. If he knows he has only two hands, and yet says, "I don't believe that I have three hands," he sounds absurd. Am I being clear? To reiterate: How can you claim to KNOW all about the Trinity and in the next breath assert, "I don't BELIEVE in the Trinity? --Hank
3 | Trinity and Confusion | Acts 2:38 | Savannah | 31774
Hank, Man, you'r picky just like my husband can be. It was a casual statement. Someone explained in detail to me, the Council of Nicea etc... I was just trying to avoid receiving yet another explanation of the Trinity. I, in no means am trying to promote myself as all knowing. We all know there's only One who can claim that. Excuse me for my non humbleness, if you perceived it that way. Yes I understand what believe means! Again, I think you'r being a little picky. What other assumption might you make if someone told you that they didn't beleive in something. Maybe you can help me out with better word usage. I believe that God was manifest in the flesh and in the Spirit. Do I believe I will see 3 thrones when I get to heaven, no. In Rev. Jesus comes out from the center of the throne. I believe that most trinitarians and I can agree on alot of things, I am concerned however, for the weak of faith. My family, for example think they are going to be greeted by all Three (as in separate people) they want to know who they should fall at the feet of. It is a legitimate concern. Savannah |

4 | Trinity and Confusion | Acts 2:38 | Hank | 31795
Savannah, one day over 40 years ago, not long after my wife and I were married, she remarked that I was being "picky" about something or another. I replied, "Yes, I know that, but don't you think I usually excercise sound judgment in my pickiness? After all, I picked you to be my wife." She has not to this day ever brought the subject up again :-) ... Savannah, what you perceive as my being picky were merely comments designed and intented as catalysts to spur your own thinking about the content and potential impact of your stated position on the Trinity..... The expectation of some members of your family that they will be greeted in Heaven by essentially three gods (lower case is appropriate, since there is no such teaching in Scripture of three gods) is not consistent with the biblical doctrine of the Trinity. --Hank
