1 | Will you join me? | Acts 2:33 | kalos | 4931
I join you. Whereas I am in agreement with Charis in his posting of Tue, 05-08-2001, 10:23am; and whereas I must obey the following Scriptures: 2 Tim 2:14 "Of these things put them in remembrance, charging [them] in the sight of the Lord, that they strive not about words, to no profit, to the subverting of them that hear"; 2 Tim 2:16 "But shun profane babblings: for they will proceed further in ungodliness"; 2 Tim 2:23 "But foolish and ignorant questionings refuse, knowing that they gender strifes"; and 2 Peter 3:16 "as also in all [his] epistles, speaking in them of these things; wherein are some things hard to be understood, which the ignorant and unstedfast wrest, as [they do] also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction"; Therefore, I have determined to take the following action: I join Charis and Hank in that I am forthwith boycotting any further discussion of the 'Oneness' or 'Jesus-only' topics. -JVH0212 Tuesday, -05-08-2001, 1:00pm |

2 | Will you join me? | Acts 2:33 | RevC | 4949
Charis JVH0212 Hank Let it be known that you responded to postings concerning this issue. That you kept the discussion alive. It would seem to me that your desire is to break fellowship with whomever you disagree with, but only until you describe them as unholy, heretics incapable of having a intelligent thought. In each and every post I gave concise biblically based answers. I made no accusations nor did I describe you in any way that would degrade you or put you down. I am sorry that you have had such a difficult time getting your doctrinal basis to stick. The truth is no matter which side you are on both doctrines have their weak points ...including TRINITY. There are a great many on this site that have maintained a good spirit during this discussion. I feel we have all learned from it. This is the basis of a forum that people express their ideas freely and in a way that is not offensive or crude. I have not been either of those. For you to lamblast my faith, that which has brought me to new life, healed the brokenness and the hurt that I have endured. The same faith which has brought healing to my family joy to my children and love to our home To lamblast that is a crime and a shame. Sometime people are so doctrinal that they became dangerous. I agree you should boycott this discussion. JVH0212 we communicated by e mail briefly, not once did doctrine come up. Only unity..however you choose the path in which you should take........GOD BE WITH YOU with the sincerest of love in the Lord Jesus Christ
3 | Will you join me? | Acts 2:33 | charis | 4966
Dear RevC, These discussions have not borne fruit. I do not lambaste you, personally, and I admit that you have been a gentleman. However the Tri-Une nature of God is an integral part of virtually every Christian creed, and is not food for debate, any more than a denial of the Virgin Birth, the infallibility of the Bible, or the work of the Cross. A 'oneness' or 'Jesus-only' God is not merely a 'matter of discussion,' but divisive, and inherently destructive. This is the reason for my boycott. Indeed, you are free to discuss anything you like, but I cannot participate. With Love in Christ Jesus, charis |

Sorry to see that Charis, but i am just curious how these creeds supersede the word of God and what he reveals to a hungry heart. Sorry we can't learn together. It seems you and jvh started this awhile back. You found some that will discuss, Yours in Christ Jim
5 | What is a creed? | Acts 2:33 | charis | 5036
Dear Jim, First let me make it clear that though JVH0212 and I have had some lively discussion about the name into which we are baptized, and several other subjects, neither of us have ever touched on denial of the Tri-Une nature of God. Regarding creeds, they in no way supercede or replace Scripture. There are many creeds, most of them quite short. They were made by groups of men who studied the Scriptures, served God and His church with all their being. These men all had thoughts and a 'hungry heart' before God. They discussed, argued, prayed, fasted, and gave a significant portion of their lives to identify what any Christian should agree on. The results were always a 'Lowest Common Denominator' of faith in God. You are not the first to have a 'hungry heart.' But beware that your heart not be influenced by emotion and-or the conviction that you have a 'special revelation.' This is the trap of sectarianism. The Apostle's Creed, the Atanasian Creed, the Chalcedonian Creed, and the Nicene Creed (381 A.D.) are all in basic agreement on the fundamentals of Christian faith. I have also looked at the Creed of Orthodox Christian Faith and the Doctrinal Statement of the Lockman Foundation. The internet will lead you to many more. The creeds that are long-winded are always controversial and denominational, while the short creeds invariably speak to the heart and the mind the knowledge of Christ. I have read carefully your arguments, read and prayed over the Scriptures you have quoted, and find that they do not measure up to the Bible or the creeds that virtually every Christian holds as truth. Nor does the mystical belief of 'oneness' (or any variation) speak to my spirit. In Christ Jesus, charis |

6 | What is a creed? | Acts 2:33 | Makarios | 5151
Dear brother charis, I agree with you that there are problems with believing the Oneness of God in the person of Jesus Christ alone, that is that Jesus is the Father and the Holy Spirit. I just spoke with my supervisor about this very topic this past week and we had good dialogue and we enjoyed debating each other. There are problems with believing in the Oneness of the Deity in Jesus and I am ready now to "break my silence" and to address that discussion on this forum.
