Dear Jeff, Spend a bit more time studying (there was only 78 minutes between our posts), looking at the text itself and then -- but only then -- finding out what the church has taught through the ages, by checking good commentators. I apologize, but I don't have time to do all the work for you. Not that I'm not willing, its just that I'm packing to head out of town... to New Jersey. (I have to read three separate books during the trip. I also have a six hour set of lectures to listen to while driving. These things will make NJ a tiny bit more tolerable! I only wish I could read while I drive!) You can also research the question about the "last days." Look at every reference to the phrase in Scripture. It is a common Jewish idiom and, demonstrably, refers to the days subsequent to the life of Christ. I'm glad to spur you on to a more thorough study of Scripture. Thank you for spurring me on in the same way! I'll be praying for the illuminating power of the Holy Spirit in our efforts. In Him, Doc |

Hi Doc, Good luck in New Jersy, I hate to drive in that town. Have a safe trip. Thanks for your response but I believe you missed my point. Thanks for pointing out that there were only 78 minutes between our post. I think it was actually 78 minutes and 12 seconds. Anyway, my post did include that I have sat under the teaching of others as well as done my own study of this passage in times past, sorry you missed that. Still, the issue at hand has not been addressed. I am not asking nor expecting you to "do all the work for me". I was simply asking you to better represent your own work by giving supporting, contextual scripture. I am capable of doing the work to support my own views, opinions, and beliefs, but it's hardly fair for you to expect me to do the work to explain yours. Again, have a safe trip and try to get some enjoyment from your travel. Sincerely, Jeff |
