1 | What does your and your household mean? | Acts 16:33 | Lisa G | 140793
Acts 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household. NKJV The chapter is referencing the time when Paul was in prison and the there was a quake that caused the doors to open and the guards are worried and Paul told them to "believe." I know the promise of salvation is to all people and whoever believes will be saved. I would like input regarding "you and your household." Since many household have unsaved loved ones, I am reading this to mean they are protected from the devil's weapons while they are in the household. Not a guarantee that the loved one will accept the free gift of salvation. I am sure many loved ones of Christians have passed away rejecting Christ. |

Lisa G, greetings Salvation was available to the jailer, who was asking the question ... and his household. They each had to make their own choice. To be protected from the devil's weapons we need the armor (Eph 6:11ff). Searcher |

3 | What does your and your household mean? | Acts 16:33 | Lisa G | 140938
Thank you for responding. I understand that Christians must wear the armor. I understand that everyone must receive Christ. The scripture I was using is a bad example. Let's go to I Cor. 7;12-16 where it refenence to be an example to win a loved one to Christ. There is not guarantee, but when it says that a spouse is santified because of the believing spouse. Santified from what and how is what I was more concerned about. I recently have received confiremation that they are santified from the elements of the world as I mentioned after my initial question. |
