1 | When were Apostles saved? | Acts 11:15 | arrow1 | 116597
Did the Spirit falling on the Apostles at Pentecost have the exact same purpose as it did when it fell on Cornelius and his household? In other words, were the Apostles saved before or after the Spirit fell on them? (refer to question from 2-27-04, 3:34pm) thanks. arrow1 |

2 | When were Apostles saved? | Acts 11:15 | terrib | 116621
Dear Arrow1, The Apostles were saved at a time and place just like anyone else are saved today, 'the moment they believed'. And only God in Heaven knows the exact time and place. (1Co 2:11 KJV) For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. As when Peter preached the prophesy of Joel in Acts 2:14-36, when the hearers accepted the words of Peter and accepted in their hearts the Lord Jesus Christ, they, about 3000, were saved. In the timing of God, when a man's heart has changed, then the promise of the Holy Spirit is given. But only God knows exactly when that change takes place. The Apostes were saved before the Spirit fell upon them. For even at Pentecost the Word says, they were assembled with one mind and purpose. They were believers and trusted the Lord, else the promise of the Holy Spirit would not have been given. Throughout the Scriptures, faith in God, believing, always comes before the promise: Noah, Moses, Entering into Jordan, David and Goliath, Daniel, Job and ALL the events of the people of faith in the Lord. And as things happen in the natural so do these things happen in the spiritual: (1Co 15:46 KJV) Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. Only God knows the exact time a newborn will breach the womb and as in the spiritual, only God knows when the instance of the rebirth takes place. (Joh 3:5 KJV) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (Joh 3:6 KJV) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. You will notice that all the following verses contain the same phrase, "by faith": (Heb 11:4 KJV) By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. (Heb 11:5 KJV) By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. (Heb 11:7 KJV) By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. (Heb 11:8 KJV) By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. (Heb 11:9 KJV) By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: (Heb 11:17 KJV) By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, (Heb 11:20 KJV) By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. (Heb 11:21 KJV) By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff. (Heb 11:22 KJV) By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones. (Heb 11:23 KJV) By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment. (Heb 11:24 KJV) By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; (Heb 11:27 KJV) By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. (Heb 11:29 KJV) By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned. (Heb 11:30 KJV) By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days. (Heb 11:31 KJV) By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace. Faith, Salvation, Promise terrib |
