1 | What about Bible Codes and apologetics? | John 5:39 | rrscott | 47052
Are the Bible codes real? I am interested in people’s outlook on the issues of ELS codes, theomatics and old-earth creationism. I realize that Drosdin is not a Christian and his entire attitude stinks but Grant Jeffrey and Yacov Rambsel seem to have their head screwed on right and their heart in the right place. Del Washburn is a real hero in his dedication to God his Father. Hugh Ross has definitely pioneered the way for a merger of science and bible knowledge (not religion). I find it amazing how many people refuse to pay any respect to these disciplines. How about you? |

Greetings, rrscott; Bible codes are numerology, nothing more. There is nothing in the Bible itself to suggest that "searching the Scriptures" for magic numbers has any value or validity. I don't believe that god plays parlor games with his Word. Hugh Ross, like Galileo before him, challenges us to re-examine our assumptions about the relationship between the general revelation of the created universe and the special revelation of the Bible. Both revelations point to God; one day we will see that they do not contradict one another. Peace and grace, Steve aka Indiana Jones |

3 | Numerology??? | John 5:39 | rrscott | 47156
Why do some poeple think that ELS and/or Theomatics is numerology? I looked into all three and numerology has nothing to do with faith in The God of the Bible and His Son.
4 | Numerology??? | John 5:39 | stjones | 47160
Greetings again; Is there anything in the Bible that says we should look for magic numbers and hidden messages? Wouldn't our time be better spent seeking discernment and wisdom in the plain words of the text? Using computers to find secret codes flies in the face of every principle of exegesis and interpretation. What value do you see in this stuff? What information is gained? How does this information relate to faith in God and Jesus? Peace and grace, Steve aka Indiana Jones |

Hi Steve, I haven't changed my attitude toward Theomatics and Del Washburn. Theomatics is too much math for my brain, but I believe that his system is glorifying God. My brain can not come close to Einstein's theory of relativity or what his numerical formula means. That doen't mean that he is incorrect just because I don't understand his numbers. I still find it meaningful that the Greek word for disciple is the word that gives us our words mathmetician and mathematics. I think that God is a wonderful Mathmetician and Scientist, so to speak. We shouldn't deny the possibilities just because we don't understand the working. The Scriptures are enough by the meaning of the words to bring us to the saving knowledge of Christ. But we can still learn the Way of God more accurately, I believe. Acts 18:26 From the heart, Ray |
