Can we eat with those who has committed adultery and is now still under church discipline? 1 Corinthians 5:11 say that we might not even take food with those people. Why Jesus ask for water from the adulteress in John 4:7?

Scripture ... Matt 18:15-20, John 4:7, 1 Cor 5, Gal 6:1-2 ... Ivory313, I believe 1 Corinthians 5:11 needs to be read in light of the entire chapter. The church failed to execute Matthew 18:15-20. These were those who we unrepentent. I believe if they repent, we should eat with them. They need our support ... Gal 6:1-2 just came to mind. Jesus did many things that the Jews thought was wrong, but He wasn't ... including talking with the woman in John 4. Searcher |

3 | More wickedness; Less Love | John 4:7 | Ivory313 | 74960
How can I judge that those people really repent or not? Besides, Jesus said do not judge or too you will be judged (Mat 7:1). Just keep away from those people makes me less chance to judge or to be judged. Also, if twice the same person betrays me, I will be deeply hurt. Mat 24:12 says that increase of wickedness; love of most will grow cold. Shall we pay less love to those who sin more?
4 | More wickedness; Less Love | John 4:7 | ses_lellers | 74981
Jesus is God. Only he can sit with a samaritan woman and have no chance of being corrupted. We are imperfect and will be corrupted. So how do we "eat with sinners" like jesus did and not be corruppted? Be Jesus for them. Jesus is in us and he shines through us. If we are putting ourselves down and letting him shine through us, then it will not be us sitting with the samaritan woman. It will be the Master, sitting with sinners through us.
