Hi, Toeknee! We are living the most "politically correct," and "anti-establishment" era that ever existed... Scripture is being challenged by both atheists and "Christians" alike... some even disregarding Jesus' own Word: In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!" Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. (John 3:3-5) Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness." Then John consented. (Matthew 3:13-15) All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus' words, acknowledged that God's way was right, because they had been baptized by John. But the Pharisees and experts in the law rejected God's purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John. (Luke 7:29-30) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20) Baptism is not in itself salvation, but we are commanded by Christ, the second Person of God, to be baptized--how any disciple of Christ can believe and teach otherwise is beyond me! We are called to be God's servants... a servant cannot pick and choose which commands to obey, which commands to circumvent, and which commands to abolish altogether! Are we greater than the Lamb of God--He who was pure and for our sake suffered and died on the Cross? As the Son of man, Jesus obeyed the Father to the end (death on the Cross), how can He, being the Only Begotten Son, be obligated to fulfill the Father's Will while humanity, mere mortal beings, be allow obey or disobey at will? Jesus' could not have been clearer on the subject of baptism: "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit." Am I suggesting that God is limited to our symbolic gestures (circumcision, sacrifices, holocausts, baptism...)? Decidedly not! This is why Jesus could tell one of the men being crucified along side of Him that on that very day he would be with Him (Jesus) in Paradise! (Luke 23:39-43) God Bless! Angel |

Perhaps we could include "Feet Washing, John 13" along with water baptism as a mandate? Why one and not the other? Thank you! | ||||||

Hi, ROGER459! I guess that you have a special deciphering ring that allows you to set limits to Christ's Commands! Or is it that you believe that the Bible has been added to? When Jesus tells the disciples to baptize... did your special decoder ring note where He said "but it's only an option... if they feel like being baptized or if you are not too tired to do as I command?" May the Holy Spirit shed His baptismal grace upon us all! God Bless! Angel |

Please dont' politely "Slander Me?" as I do not have any "special dechphering" as you wrongly suggest! Your use of the 'decoder ring' suggests that Slander is your way of "Discussion as an Adult? NOT OF WORKS, LEST ANY MAN BOAST..Eph 2:8-9-10. Why can't you just 'come out of the closet?'and say plainly that you believe that one cannot be 'wholy saved without water baptism?' Once again that "Church-e-antity" tries to Overide the Word of God! Once again, "ONE DOES NOT NEED TO BE WATER BAPTIZED TO BE SAVED!" (Gal 3:2) This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? PLEASE ANSWER THE QUESTION THE HOLY SPIRIT ASKED THROUGH PAUL IN Galatians 3:2? Thank you! |

"Perhaps we could include "Feet Washing, John 13" along with water baptism as a mandate? Why one and not the other? Thank you!" Hi, ROGER! Perhaps I misread your post... but did you not mean to be condescending with your statement? You reference to having a ""Discussion as an Adult?" ...yet I do not read that tone in your post (specially with the ending remark--isn't it kind of 1970's high school "In your face?" You broungt into the thread a value that has nothing to do with baptism, you presented it as a matter-of-factly: "you are speaking junk so contend with this!" because I quoted what Jesus and the Apostles held to be a clear Command! I do apologize for not being more patient... I restructured my reply several times (from your reception I can see that even my final draft was too strong)... I promise you that in the future I will download your posts onto my computer to offer you a greater amount of Scripture and less of my zeal for Scripture! God Bless! Angel |

Salvatin is being Sealed with the Holy Spirit! 1Corinthians 12:13 and Romans 8:9. That is why Paul said: (Gal 3:2) This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? AND I WILL ASK YOU, How did you recieve the Spirit, by Water Baptism or the Hearing of Faith? Thank you! |

To answer your question “how did [I] receive the Spirit, by Water Baptism or the Hearing of Faith?”, I say both, my friend. I noticed you revised Paul’s question a little bit. His question was “by the works of the law [of Moses] or the hearing of faith?” Romans 10:17 says “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” So, I heard from the Word that baptism (obedience) saves me, and the Holy Spirit is given to me after baptism. Acts 2:38, 5:32. To me, Romans 6, first few verses, clearly describes baptism as the new birth. |
