Hello soconfusedinthis world, So, what constitutes saving faith? Eph. 2:8-9 says, "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."(NASB) Paul states the gospel clearly in 1 Cor. 15:1-4: 1 Cor 15:1 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 1 Cor 15:2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. 1 Cor 15:3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 1 Cor 15:4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, We need to be certain of our terms and definitions. Sometimes we confuse what's required for salvation, with what God seeks for our sanctification. Is there some question here to the validity of John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."? Is more than belief required for one to be saved? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Not an argument note just to expound on your final question: "Is more than belief required for one to be saved?" James 2:19 states; You believe that there is one God; you do well: the devils also believe, and tremble. For an explanation of why I shared this with you, there are millions that hold a type of Faith which there is no saving Grace. Simply believing there is a God says no more than what demons believe. "Proper Faith' will accept the Lord as one's Savior. Again, this is not an argumentive statement, just some thoughts to expound on. May God bless You John Ryals |
