1 | Is not Love The Greatest Commandment? | John 3:16 | LampLight | 31510
Dear Robert: Thank you for your response. I agree with all that you said. Love is the greatest commandment and I also know that Christ Loves us Unconditionally and that I too am saved by his grace and not by works. The reason that I posted this question was that my spirital gift is the gift of mercy, and I am new to this forum. I responded to a couple of questions, with encouragement and love, I got 2 responses back that did nothing but criticize me (Hank)and at that moment for the 1st time in my life, sadly to say, I understood how a lot of non-believers feel when they say the things that they do about Christians. Too many times I hear the word thrown around, "So' Called Christains, many times by other Christains...these words are powerful and wound as a sharp piercing sword. Being a Christain and knowing how to forgive, I brought my wounds to the Father and I am ok today, however what about the non-belivers who can't forgive so easily, who don't go to the Father as we do? It is my stong belief that Love is first and foremost of importance, if it were not for Love then our hearts would not be capable of being opened up to the Father to start our wonderful journey with him, a close realtionship with him. He works on us from the inside out. 1st Love, then learning, then descipline and obiedence. Because it is He who 1st loved us, our love in turn for him makes us want to know more about him, to follow his will, to be obiedent to him...all this out of love. I suppose I was shocked and dis-heartened by last nights events here on the forum, as I did not expect such boasting and criticism from here. Now I know why I am basically a loner, I associate with my Church, but not too many on a large scale, and at work, mostly I spend time alone with the Fahter for he will never leave me nor forsake me. Thanks for your ear, just wanted to explain why the question. |

Lamplight I have taken the time to read each of your posts and I'd like to share some of my thoughts with you. Each person who has found Christ, like yourself, has a feeling of exuberance which they want to share with their fellow man. It is easy to see this feeling within your writings. When entering this forum to share your happiness with your fellow man, you are now in a position in which many people are listening to each word you say. You are taking on the role of a teacher. It is very easy to find a passage from the Bible and interpret it in your own manner to justify a position. But, as a with any teacher, accuracy is of the utmost importance. In one of your replies, you commented for someone to go read Revelations, that's a broad, easy statement. You would be of more service to that person, as a teacher, if you directed them to a specific part of Revelations - and then helped them understand what they were reading and specifically how that is relevant to the question. But, before you post your guidance, you have a responsibilty as a teacher to double and triple check your recommendations, your interpretations, even your typed answers. Take the time to teach, correctly. People are coming to this forum for guidance, not just a flip answer. By the way, the people on this forum whom I have found to be the best qualified teachers, on whom you can trust are: Hank, Nolan, Tim Moran, Charis, Reformer Joe, EdB and a rookie to the group, Emmaus. There are others. Each represents a slightly different perspective and, at times, will disagree among themselves. But, they are good people and they take their teaching responsibilities very serious and I think, in time, you will appreciate them. Also, teach - but teach with the understanding of your responsibility to your student. Quality is always more important than quantity. I know you have many great things to contribute to this forum and I look forward to hearing what you have to say. Brian |

Thank you brian. I wanted to respond with a better reference to revelations, but the search here for the forum, well, I am on a learning curve should I say. I will be more careful and I do see your point, and a good one at that. I am sensative sometimes, and well I felt personally attached by hank on my first trial on this forum. I am over it now, but it did make me think about how we are reflecting ourselves to the non-believers. I guess I have way too big of a heart sometimes. Your criticism I can accept, becasue It was done in honesty, sincerity and Love.
