1 | Are we ever "worthy" of God's love? | John 3:16 | NewLump | 51945
That does narrow the issue. Here goes. Preface I believe that God's heart's desire for you, me and the terrorists trying to destroy America is the same. He made all of us in His image, of course He loves us. Scripture affirms this over and over. That is what I view as the Creator's love for His creation. He wants us to be in a Father/Child relationship with Him. He wants to be our Father not just our Creator. John 1:12. 1Tim.2:4 affirms that He wants that relationhip with all men. Now to the question... Now, when we enter into a Father/child relationship with Him I think he is overjoyed.(Luke 15:7) As you pointed out previously, we are bestowed with many blessings, indwelt with the Spirit of Christ and equipped to live as He desires in a very hostile world.(Eph.1:3-14) I think we are more loveable because we are now His children, but we are not necessarily any less sinful. We are united with Christ, children of the most high God, that is what gives us privilege and access to the Holy of Holies. We have not aquired merit of our own. His love is unconditional. That's my answer to the question of being more 'loveable'. What's the real question, Ken? |

2 | Are we ever "worthy" of God's love? | John 3:16 | KAS | 52009
This question originates out of a sermon I heard a while back that I really had a problem with. I asked a related question under Matthew 22:39. I had a link on that one to an on-line audio of the message. I was asking for some outside ears to listen and tell me what they heard. When I raised concerns about the message I was told I had a "muddled" understanding and that I had misunderstood what was being taught. I don't think I did. My question "Are we ever worthy of God's love?" came from one of the statements made in the sermon. So far one person has listened to it. I'm sure you have better things to do than listen to online sermons and give feedback, but if you could, I would GREATLY appreciate some feedback. It's caused my wife and I some real stress in confronting what we saw as plain and simple untruth. It hasn't been too comfortable on Sunday mornings since we spoke up. So if I'm wrong I'd like someone to show me from scripture. If you listen to the message and then wonder what I objected to, I could send you a copy of what I found objectionable. Here's the link to the message if you have some time. http://www.telusplanet.net/public/deep/matthew22.htm Thanks Ken |

3 | Are we ever "worthy" of God's love? | John 3:16 | NewLump | 52013
Ken, My audio ability is limited right now. I will listen to the sermon as soon as I can. I've bookmarked the page. Good people get 'stuck' when the character of God is called into question from a source you don't expect. Sometimes our understanding is too small and needs broadening. Sometimes it's too soft and needs firming up. (I really appreciate the interchange with JohnR. that has been generated from our postings. I need it.) I pray for you and your spouse. Nothing is tougher than the numbing confusion than these kinds of challenges bring. The real answer is in the Word. He reveals Himself there. Look for His character in the broad scope of His written revelation. As you do, know that as you seek He will be sure that you find. That is His commitment to you and your wife. Satan tries everything to discourage us from getting back into the Word in times like this. Don't succomb to the doubt. Cling to His promises because He is true though every man be false. Please remember my brother, He will complete the good work He has begun in you and your wife. He will bring this time to a close and you both will know Him more deeply. In His love and affection, Lou |

5 | Are we ever "worthy" of God's love? | John 3:16 | NewLump | 52100
My wife and I have spent too much time in those dark places. Satan's deceptions are very difficult to pierce because He is so effective in using partial truth and human frailty. Know you are being prayed for my brother. Lou. |
