1 | Was the holy spirit in Adam? | John 20:22 | Renovate Me | 116845
Biffbt, In Jn 20:22, above, I personally, take that to mean a "symbolic conveyance" of the Power of the Holy Spirit unto the apostles. There were other instances of the apostles being "filled with the Spirit," (Acts 2:4) an act that is repeated elsewhere, so this means that this filling is not a permanent infusion. As for breathing life into Adam, We must consider the wording of the text. Whereas other creatures were 'Formed' Adam was 'Created', still, out of the clay of the earth. 2 | Was the holy spirit in Adam? | John 20:22 | Ray | 118841
Hi Renovate Me, I think that you had a very good post here. Would you write some more about the "Power" of the Holy Spirit to your mind. As far as capitalizing Power do you think of for instance how Jesus went to the right hand of Power, that is, God. Or would you just as easily have written "power" in your post? You wrote that the "spirit" of Adam, the soul of man was breathed into Adam. Could you just as easily say that the "spirit" or holy spirit was breathed on the disciples in John 20:22? Personally, I have holy spirit penciled in my personal copy for John 20:22. Thank you ahead of time for your continuing thoughts. From the heart, Ray |
