1 | Is Jesus being called God or a God? | John 1:1 | BradK | 129655
Noveta, I see Glory Bound has already answered and provided you with some good reference points. Specifically, scripture clearly portrays Jesus Christ- the second Person of the Trinity- as God. He is of the same essence of the Father. If the JW rendering of John 1:1 is correct- then they're polytheistic. This creates an entirely different problem to deal with. However, scripture teaches that there is only one God (Is. 42:5). The basic problem of the Watchtower is: They deny the doctrine of the Trinity- and therefore the Diety of Christ. As the writer of Ecclesiastes 1:9 tells us, "...there is nothing new under the sun". Watchtower theology is nothing more than the resurfacing of "Arianism"-which basically teaches that Christ is more than a man but less than God. This was dealt with at the Council of Nicea in 325 AD. I hope this helps, BradK |

2 | Is Jesus being called God or a God? | John 1:1 | Hank | 129658
Isn't it remarkable, Brad, how these tired old heresies get resurrected and, clad in new garments and given new names, continue to blind, delude, and deceive the gullible from generation to generation? How can the humanists claim that man is the master of his fate, the captain of his soul, when he is nothing more than a wretched and misguided sinner sloshing his way to Gomorrah? --Hank
3 | Is Jesus being called God or a God? | John 1:1 | DocTrinsograce | 129663
It is remarkable! I agree! Our ignorance of church history tends to exacerbate this problem. On the other hand, have you ever noticed that the cropping up of heresy and apostasy is often the catalyst for bringing solid theological truth into sharper clarity? God's use of secondary causes must frustrate the fire (as we used to say in Texas) out of Satan! |
