1 | Jesus, "a god"--John 1:18 | John 1:18 | Truthfinder | 76557
Hi Ray, Yes, exactly to both questions. Also,as far as translations go the New Living Bible says, “The Jewish leaders replied, "By our laws he ought to die because he called himself the Son of God." The faithless Jews were accusing Jesus of blasphemy prior to this and now they changed to the charge of sedition, and the penalty was still death. Even Jesus' enemies recognized Jesus was being known as the Son of God. Truthfinder |

2 | Jesus, "a god"--John 1:18 | John 1:18 | Ray | 76601
Hi Truthfinder, I am sorry that you find truth in the NWT. Your son of God is just like us; your god has no power to save or deliver. 1) I have just noticed that your question talked about "a god", which is in verse 1, but your question is really about verse 18. So you are probably denying that Jesus is God because He was seen. You don't understand that the unique Son, this only begotten God, is in the bosom of the Father. John 1:18 tells us that this Man has explained Him. This Man is God in the flesh; He has explained Spirit. No man has seen Spirit. God is Spirit. If Jesus took on the glory of God, then His witness would not be true. But Jesus glorified the Father while on the earth. I suggest you study John 17 and count the pronouns in that prayer to see that the total is divisible by three as are many of the prayers in the Scriptures. We all need to know this triune God. From the heart, Ray |
