1 | John 17-24 | John 17:24 | ibelieve | 17437
Jesus is speaking in John 17 of the glory that he had with God before the world was. Then he gives this glory to us that we may be one with the Father even as he is one with him. This is not for heaven but when we are still on earth this glory is to let us do greater things than Jesus did because he went to the Father. We are seated with Christ at the right hand of the Father, it does not say we will be seated later. When we behold that glory that the Father has given him then and only then will we understand the authority that we are supposed to be walking in here on the earth.

Hi ibelieve, I appreciate your posting here and the connection you make between John 17:5 and Col 3:3. I wonder though if you don't imply too much glory to us. We are raised up with Christ positionally, and seek the things above, but we are not seated with Christ at the right hand of the Father. Our glory is that we can be one body, whether Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, slave or free, "but Christ is all, and in all." Col 3:11 John 17:24 says that we see His spiritual glory and verse 25 that we have known that the Father sent Him. Now we have to make His name, His authority known. Just as John 17:7 says, "Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me." Our authority is in keeping His word. John 17:6--Col 3:16 Later, Ray |

Ray, I have a question in regards to your reply to ibelieve. You make a statement that we are not "seated with Christ at the right hand of the Father". My question is this: How do you interpret Ephesians 2:6-7 ? Thank you Ray and God bless you. Bobbie Faye |

4 | What does Ephesians 2:6-7 mean? | John 17:24 | Ray | 17822
Hi Bobbie Faye, I spoke to ibelieve about how I perceived him to give more glory to ourselves than we have. He implied glory to us as being seated at the right hand, and seemed to say that we individually have more power than He had. He said that He "gives this glory to us...when we are still on earth". What I was saying is that Col 3:1 doesn't say that we are seated at the right hand of God, but that Christ is. And that Christ is all, and in all, verse 11. I didn't deny that we are in Christ, nor did I say that we don't have eternal life right now. I simply wanted him to see Him at the right hand. Even though we are raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, (Col 2:12) our lives are hidden with Christ in God. Col 3:4, "When Christ, who is our life /Life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory." ***In other words, Christ left this world to be with the Father, we are still here in the world but not of it, later to be revealed with Him in glory. Col 2:13, "When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our tansgressions..." It is the same with the Ephesians 2:5,6 passage, "...even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with (Christ)(by grace you have been saved)." ***But we are hidden with (Christ) in God Col 3:3, seated with Him yes, but "in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus" Eph 2:6, until our Life is revealed and then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.Col 3:4 My parentheses are there for comparison or contrast. I hope this shows my understanding of being in Christ. It is probably not unlike yours or ibelieve. |

Ray, Thank you for your reply. I believe that I followed your line of thought pretty well in your reply to ibelieve. That one statement I referred to is the only part of your reply that was confusing to me. You did clarify that and I thank you. Bobbie Faye |
