What is the "thing of Me" or the "what is Mine" that Jesus is speaking of? What is the "it" that will be disclosed? From the heart, Ray |

Greetings Ray! Allow me to paste several verses from this passage: John 16:12 - "‘‘I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you. 16 ‘‘In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.”" I would argue that the 'what is mine' refers to the truth that the Holy Spirit will reveal. Hi Tim, Thanks for posting to me. I hope you know that I will argue for the same things that you do, the truths of God's word. I have so many things on my mind that I would want to talk to you about while I have your interest, but don't hardly know where to start. 1) I took note today that John 14:21 which talks about "disclose" is actually talking about "reveal" or as the NKJ says make "manifest". John 14:21, "He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me; and he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him, and will disclose Myself to him. 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose * *Yourself to us, and not to the world?" 2) John 16:14 which talks about "disclose" in the NASB is actually another word which is Strong's #312, "to bring back word, announce". John 16:14, "He shall glorify Me; for He shall take of Mine, and shall disclose [it] to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said, that He takes of **Mine, and will disclose [it] to you." Your NIV talks of making it known to you. So the idea is of announcing it. And we would say, announcing the truth. 3) John 16:14, "He shall glorify Me; for He/ shall take of *Mine, and shall disclose [it] to you." John 14:21b, "...and he who love Me shall be loved by My Father/, and *I will love him, and will disclose Myself to him." I would say that we have the Truth revealed and the truth announced in these passages. What are your thoughts on these things? Contrast John 14:8, "Philip said to Him, "Lord,/ show us the *Father, and it is enough for us." From the heart, Ray |

Hi Tim, I wrote, "I would say that we have the Truth revealed and the truth announced in these passages." If you agree with that would you also agree that John 14:6 reveals Jesus as the Way, and the Truth, and the Life? 1) I see the following verses as comparison verses, and invite comments on them. John 14:7, "If you had known (Me), you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him and have seen Him." John 14:11, NKJ, "Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the (Father) in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves." John 14:17, "...but you know Him because (He) abides with you, and will be in you." John 14:23, "...and My Father will love him, and (We) will come to him, and make Our abode with him." John 14:29, "And now I have told you before it comes to pass, that when it comes to pass, you may believe. 30 (I) will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me;" John 15:7, "If you abide in Me, and (My) words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you." My point in showing these comparisons and parentheses for comparison, is that the Truth, (the Spirit of truth) abides with us and will be in us as believers. Also His words of truth abide in us and we keep His words and commandments. From the heart, Ray |
