Hi, Edd! I think the problem lies in the liberal interpretation of Paul's declarition to the Corinthians: To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. (1 Corinthians 9:22) But Paul never said that he practiced divination, witchcraft, idolatry... in order to fit in with those who would practice such vices in order to save "all"... Today, many "Christians" believe that we must engineer theatrical feats to gain the interest of the masses. So we find more and more merging of church and Performers (be it orators, singers, etc...); the Word of God has become a secondary issue--the main concern is bigger and better attractions! Apparently, Jesus was utterly wrong when He stated that: ...small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. (Matthew 7:14) "Christians" today are proving Christ wrong... they subscribe to the bigger is better and wealthier is best philosophies which they use to bring everyone (translation: anything goes) to God! Christ was not a performer! When the masses searched Him out with their hypocritical "Rabbi..." Jesus flatly told them: ..."I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. (John 6:26) Yes, all Christians have the duty to bring others to Christ; but, that duty does not give us the lisence to conform Scriture to the world's values! God Bless! Angel |

Very well said Angel. Today it seems the brighter the lights the louder and more upbeat the music the more Godly it is suppose to be. We seem to have forgotten that if Christ be lifted up HE will draw men to Him. Your view of the misuse of Paul's writtings is insightful to this let me add I have heard it said Jesus hung out with sinners and did not say anything about whst they were doingso why should we. Again an extreme misuse of scripture. I wonder how will we ever get back to true worship of God in spirit and truth. Any thoughts? In The Love Of Christ, tgc | ||||||

Hi, tgc! I know that there's no turning back the clock... but this is basically the solotion: Christians are part of society: society has become increasingly more and more bold and immoral: Christians want to be part of the world: Christians values are compromised in order to fit in! Have you noticed how adamant people are about the division of church and State? Well, when it comes to social values it is the same, except that people embrace modern views (as unscrupulous as they are), and they demand that the church conform to their modern views! I do not suggest that we reject all of society's values and amenities only those practices that are contrary to Christ! As it stands in Europe, Canada, and the United States there's a resurgence of anti-Christian movements (these include the implementation of legislation) that, in the long run, could mirror the behavior of the Communist and Islamic states. Jesus called for His disciples to love one another and to be one! We are missing the target! Till we obey Jesus the Church will suffer assaults both from within and without! God Bless! Angel |
