1 | Sin in the life of a believer? | John 13:10 | Mommapbs | 121082
WTB: You wrote: "But sin is sin whether a believer or unbeliever and God will deal with it as so." God has already dealt with sin - at the cross. The one who is shortsighted or has forgotten that he has been cleansed of sin does not lose the result (eternal life)of that cleansing but does not enjoy the abundant life that the cleansing makes possible. (With lots of foot baths along the way - "Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord; Acts 3:19 The times of refreshing are only available for those who are IN CHRIST, for those whose sins have been erased, obliterated, the penalty for sin has been satisfied and the believers debt is cancelled.) You wrote, "2 Peter 1:9 speaks of someone who started off in the faith, but did not grow spiritually." This verse does not tell us that God will deal with that sin (not growing spiritually)by taking away the cleansing they recieved. This is what Jesus was speaking of when He told His disciples that they were clean and only needed a foot bath! For the one who has been washed, regenerated by the Holy Spirit, the penalty (eternal separation from God) for sin is removed. (As believers) When we choose to agree with God about areas in our lives that need His attention, we glory only is what we already have, His complete forgiveness. Indeed, this is a time of refreshing. mommapbs |

2 | Sin in the life of a believer? | John 13:10 | Rowdy | 121171
Cited for reference 1 Jn 1:5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. I understand the Greek word for "clense" above is the active progressive tense, that is in order for us to enjoy this constant clensing action of Jesus blood, we have to remain faithful and in fellowship with God and our fellow christians. Also see Rev 2:10. So it's just a constant state of humility and submission to God's sovreignty and Grace. Nothing we can do can take the place of our daily sacrifice of our will to His every morning and to go to bed at night after repenting of whatever we done not in accordance with God's Will and to repent of whatever we've left undone. God bless. --Rowdy |
