1 | Was John the baptist doubting? | Luke 7:19 | msbblc | 38374
In Matthew 3:17 it appears to me that John the baptist saw with his own eyes the spirit of God, in the form of a dove, and heard with his own ears a voice from heaven say, "This is my son". In Luke 7:19 John sends two of his disciples to Jesus, to ask if he was the one to come or should they expect another. What do you think the reason John would have this question in light of the knowledge he already knew?

3 | Was John the baptist doubting? | Luke 7:19 | wak | 38486
My opinion: John the Baptist was human. He had faith. He believed Christ was the Messiah. He did not absolutely "know" Christ was the Messiah. So, he struggled with his faith ... he questioned... just like all humans. That's one of the best things about the Bible: it doesn't sweep people's questioning or doubts under the carpet. There may be a reason for that. |
