Prayon Let me ask you one question, how long should a church allow a person to attend 'member in good standing' unchallenged when the person is in open and unrepented sin? If the church had done nothing could it have been seen as contributing to or enabling the sin to continue? Unless sinners are made to confront their sin they may never repent. I don't see anywhere that scripture tells us not to judge, it does caution us about being hypocritical and applying one standard for ourselves and another for everyone else. If a person is running an abortion clinic out of the house should the church allow it. How about a training center for terrorists? How about a house of ill repute? Was it all about appearance and I do think appearance should play some part, “Don’t let you good be spoken evil of” but it is also allowing or actually helping the sin to be committed. The couple as I understand it was given two options. One, stop sinning (by getting married) or two, continue sinning but move out. Clearly if they had repented of their sin and corrected the situation the church was more than willing to allow them to remain in the house. So forgiveness was available to them. EdB |

Greetings EdB, Hank and Searcher sorta said the same thing you did - please read my replies to them. I agree that forgiveness was available to them from God although I have a hunch that it was not available from the church. The "church had not pray for this couple and noone from the church came to invite the young lady to church". How do you welcome someone in the church when you don't even invite them to come? prayon |
