1 | First in a tomb - important? | Luke 23:53 | Ray | 79609
Hi mommapbs, Your comparison of Luke 23:53 with Psalm 16 suggests to me verse 8, "I have set the Lord continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore, my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will dwell securely. For (Thou) wilt not abandon my soul to Sheol;..." I compare that with Isaiah 53:8 which says in part, "Yet (He) was with a rich man in His death." Matthew 26:11, "For the poor you have with you always; but you do not always have (Me). For when she poured this perfume upon My body, she did it to prepare Me for burial." I like the idea of this Living One going ahead for us, preparing a place for us, and we continually place the Lord before us. Isaiah 53:12b, "Because He poured out (Himself) to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors." The parentheses are mine for comparison. He is our great High Priest interceding for us. From the heart, Ray |

2 | First in a tomb - important? | Luke 23:53 | Mommapbs | 79616
Good day Ray! I always wondered what Jesus meant when He said, "she did it to prepare Me for burial." Matthew 26:11 Is this because Jesus' body was not annointed after death, prior to being placed in the tomb (due to the hour and Jewish laws)? See Luke 23:53-24:1 Also, see my question on Isaiah 53:9! Blessings to you and yours - mommapbs |

Hi mommapbs, You have made the connection that I have made sometime through the years. (Still penciled in). Luke 23:55,56, "Now the women who had come to Him out of Galilee folowed after, and saw the tomb and how (His) body was laid. And they returned and prepared spices and PERFUMES." Matthew 26:11, "For the poor you have with you always; but you do not always have (Me). For when she poured this PERFUME..." The parentheses are of course mine for comparisons. Isaiah 53:9, "Yet (He) was with a rich man..." Isaiah 53:9, "...because He poured out (Himself) to death, And was numbered with the transgressors;..." From the heart, Ray |
