1 | First in a tomb - important? | Luke 23:53 | Searcher56 | 78968
Scripture ... Matt 27:52-53, 59-60; Luke 23:53. John 11:38-44 ... Mommapbs, These tombs were made fro serveral people. That is why Jesus had to specific Lazarus' name (John 11:38-44). Now what is special about being first ... it could mean nothing, the tomb was jsu completed ... it may have been an honor to be first. Joseph wanted Jesus to have that honor. ... unknown to him, the resurrection was such a big event, that if other bodies were in there, they may have been awaken (if they weren't at His death (Matt 27:52-53) IMHO, Searcher |

2 | First in a tomb - important? | Luke 23:53 | Mommapbs | 79043
Greetings Searcher - thanks for your reply! As I have been mulling this over, I came across these verses: 'The priest who is the highest among his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured and who has been consecrated to wear the garments, shall not uncover his head nor tear his clothes; nor shall he approach any dead person, nor defile himself even for his father or his mother;Lev 21:10-11 Psalm 16:10 "For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo (see) decay." "And he took it down and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid Him in a tomb cut into the rock, where no one had ever lain." Luke 23:53 Since Jesus is our Great High Priest, does it seem feasible that these verses provide the reason that His body was placed in a "clean" or never-used tomb? mommapbs |
