1 | Days between the cross and empty tomb | Luke 23:43 | Rholliday | 186503
2 questions... Can anyone give me scripture reference of what was going on with Jesus during the 3 days after His death. And, did when did the saints of old allowed to enter Heaven? You always hear the Jesus entered hell to fight satan and it was my understanding that know one was in Heaven until Jesus' assention. Thanks

Hi Rholliday on another thread we've been discussing this somewhat. Luke 23:43 says Jesus told the thief that he would be with Him that day in Paradise. My take on that is Jesus had to go to Paradise Himself for the thief to be with Him there. And I believe he told those righteous saints that He was the Messiah they had hoped for. Matt. 27:52-53 says the graves of the righteous were opened and they appeard to many. My take on that one is those are the ones to whom Jesus preached and accepted what He said. I believe they went at that time to dwell in heaven after Jesus presented Himself to the Father. Any thoughts from others? Blessings Cheri |

This is what is confusing... Jesus refers to "Paradise" to the thief in Luke but there is also a reference to Paradise in Rev 2:7... He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. Now, where is the tree of life? Rev 22 refers to it being in the New Jerusalem. 1Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. |

Rholliday, good morning, I don't know, you got me on that one. I just know that in the story about the rich man and Lazarus, Jesus said there was a gulf in the place of the dead that could not be crossed, and He called the place of the righteous dead Paradise. Maybe New Jerusalem is going to be something like the Garden of Eden, And we'll get it right this time. There are many others much more knowledgeable then me on this forum, I'm sure they will set us straight on this one. Blessings Cheri |
