1 | Can a person lose salvation? | Luke 15:11 | Jabiruu | 72268
I have been confronted lately with a couple of Christians who believe in loss of salvation. I haven't yet had more in depth conversations with these people to find out where they have this understanding from the Bible. Some verses vaguely used were Mathew 7:16, and the reasoning used was, this person was showing all the fruits of someone who was saved yet further on in their life turned and rejected Christ and blasphemed the Holy Spirit. Their argument being that after salvation a loving God still lets you choose. Second area that some have pointed to is in Hebrews 6. Do you believe this also and if so what verses do you use for your understanding. Or do you not believe you can loose your salvation and on what verses do you have for this understanding. Thanking you for your help in this matter. |

After you read the scripture consider this. When the son left the father, the father made no effort to bring the son back. It was the son's choice to leave and the son's choice to return. We are like the son. We must choose daily to follow God and do his will. remember the words of Christ. "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." We must continually seek His will and DO it every day. If we do not we could end up like Moses. Remember all of the things that Moses has done yet upon arriving at the Promised Land he was not permited to enter. Ask yourslef why that was. Can we not use this as an example. I do not for one second think that I have all of the answers. I have only one question. If we are continually living within God's will, why would we ever have to wonder about "once saved always saved"? It sounds to me that it was made up by someone who wants to "get away" with something. If you are doing what God wants, living the life that He requires this is not a topic that should affect you. Listen to God not other people. they will not be there at the judgement to help you.
