1 | Destroyed or Defeated? | Luke 10:27 | c marengo | 125026
tim, thanks for your response... "What happens if..." What someone may experience and what is true may often run in opposition. Consider the fact that Jesus says that no one can remove us from His hands, Pauls says nothing can separate us from the love of God..yet we see people who seem to walk away from Him daily. Does their experience nullify the truth? I mention OT refs..yes and as Hebrews states these were given for us as shadows. We can look at the OT and learn. The victory is for the taking all we have to do is act upon it. The NT scriptures given as "warnings" are for us to learn and live..too often I see believers struggle from a defeated standpoint. Eph.4 states before verse27..."put off the concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that you put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness" Eph.4:22-24 What do we emphasize? If we focus on the new man, renewing daily the mind...how can "the devil" touch us? What if they don't put on the full armor? How can anyone go half way? Look at the armor of God..belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, helmet of peace, sword of the spirit, shield of faith, shoes of the gospel...who is truth? who is our righteousness? who is our peace? who is the spirit? who is the source of faith? who is the gospel? How can anyone truly just take on Jesus partially? Is it possible? How many ministries has Satan ruined? James says that we sin due to being drawn away of our own lust..James 1:13-15 Why do we put off on the devil what God has left in our hands to control? If we walk by the spirit we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.Gal.5:16 Truth is Tim I do not focus my attention on "Satan", I don't see in scriptue where we are encouraged to do so...I do see the focus on the words ability to renew my mind, direct my life and touch the world for the glory of God. Proponent of 'dominion' theology? I might be... Question is...am I still your brother? Your brother in Christ, c marengo |

2 | Destroyed or Defeated? | Luke 10:27 | Morant61 | 125037
Greetings C Marengo! Of course you would still be my brother! :-) We would probably disagree on quite a few details though! :-) I do not propose dwelling on Satan either my friend. But, I don't propose ignoring him either. Scripture is filled with warnings about his tactics and tricks. We must be alert. For instance, you asked if someone could only put on half the armor. I believe this is possible. The command to put on the whole armor is given to Christians. Therefore, it must be possible to be a Christian and not 'put on' the whole armor of God. Christians were commanded to resist. Christians were commanded to stand, ect.... Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim, good point..no problem.. Paul uses the term "slave of Christ", a slave can never say no to his master..how can a true believer disobey the command of his master? |

4 | Destroyed or Defeated? | Luke 10:27 | Morant61 | 125093
Greetings C Marengo! Sure a slave can say 'no'! They would pay a price for saying it, but they could say it. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
