I appreciate your concern but please understand that I do not discount the devil, I choose to believe what the word says..He was completely destroyed by the work of the cross (Col.2:15) Our resistance of the devil is from a view of total victory. Jesus verifies this idea in the model prayer when he states we pray "lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one". WE find that Jesus emphasis is on the security we have when we address God as deliverer. I see so many believers who live a life where they focus on the devil more than they do God. The ground we give him is our doing. James says to "resist the devil and he will flee from you." Remember the only thing the enemy is "as a roaring lion". He is Defeated! Why should we fear? Jesus placed ALL AUTHORITY AND POWER in us when He comes to take up residence in us. Does Jesus fear Satan?

c marengo, I would have to call a tech on your oversimplified view that satan is defeated. Colossians 2:15 doesn't say that that he was "completely destroyed by the work of the cross"! It says: "When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him." In answer to "Does Jesus fear Satan?". Are we Jesus? No. We are implored in Ephesians 6:10-18 to "put on the whole armor of God, so that you will be able to stand against the schemes of the devil..." A curious imperative if satan is of no effect upon the believer! We make two errors with regard to satan: 1. We give him too much credit; 2. We don't give him enough credit. Make no mistake about it, Jesus did defeat satan at the cross, however he (satan) is still an active force against us till his ultimate demise in Rev. 20. We are to "boast in the Lord" and glorify Him, not focus on the devil, but to deny his schemes is folly. I think you need to balance your theology a bit more:-) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

BradK: I agree with you. Anyone who thinks that Satan has been "totally destroyed" and is now powerless is obviously not familiar with the book of Acts, Foxe's Book of Martyrs, history or current events. --kalos |

kalos, I gather from your writing that the evil seen in this world, especially death (you ref. Acts and Foxe's) are the working of Satan. I have a question...is death our enemy? think about it, c marengo |

has not "death" been destroyed by Christ on the cross?...HE holds to the keys to death, hell and the grave...grave where is your victory, death where is your sting. DEATH is only an enemy to those that have not died to self and come alive in Christ. C marengo
7 | antichrist | Luke 10:27 | srbaegon | 125022
Hello c marengo, If death has been destroyed on the cross, Christians would not die. The context of the verse is something still future. It's at that time the final enemy is destroyed. Steve |

Hi, Steve..we are so locked into the physical aspect of life. Paul said absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. How is that death?
9 | antichrist | Luke 10:27 | srbaegon | 125046
Hello c marengo, We are locked into the physical because that's the context of 1 Cor 15--resurrection of the body. It's death in that we are separated from our bodies albeit only for a time. Steve |

Steve, think about this...when stephen was stoned, right in the midst of that persecution the Bible describes his dieing as "sleep". Paul uses this same reference idea in some of his writings. Why would it be described as sleep. Think about...what happens in the natural when we fall asleep, we always wake up...what I see in this concept is that death, ie sleep is just a different state of life...I sleep, I wake up...I die, I live...to live is Christ, to die is gain. It is appointed to man, once to die...as a believer we only truly die once, that is when we reckon ourselves dead to sin and alive in Christ. I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ lives in me and the life that I now live is by faith in the son of God who loved and gave himself up for me. We are already dead..yet we live..but not our lives..His life in us..ergo the name Christian (little christ, christ like).. c marengo |

Hello c marengo, Let's clear up some terms. When I speak of death, it is the separation of the physical from the nonphysical. That's how the term is used in 1 Cor 15, which calls death an enemy. You seem to be blending physical death with death to self. You state that we only truly die once. That's true for death to self, but physical death still awaits the Christian, and it's still an enemy despite your philosophizing. Steve |

Steve, hey I'm cool with that...I guess my thing on a personal level is that death just really doesn't scare me...now don't get me wrong...I do not care to be dead tomorrow. c marengo |
