Hi Christina, I would be happy to help you "get over to the other side" on your homework. I just came from another post where I had said that "He Himself" was God. Here also we can note that He Himself is God, but He came in the likeness of men who get tired and sleep, and He was called the Son of God. We can rest assured that this Man was not going to perish on the sea. The disciples on the boat felt that they were in danger of perishing, for they said,"...do You not care that we are perishing?" However, we can not type it, "...do You not care that We are perishing?" I used to have "Us" in verse 35 in my personal copy. It wasn't until the newest NASB copyright that I changed many of similiar verses. Now I think of words that have Deity and men included in them, in lower case. I'll have to get back with you because there is a storm in my area. From the heart, Ray |

5 | Yes, part of my homework. | Mark 4:35 | Ray | 56696
Hi Christina, The storm here has passed so I feel it is safe again to be on the computer. Let me express what I feel one has to see before he/she gets to the other side in this passage. Allow me to give some Scripture references and to star some pronouns to compare. Mark 4:41, "And who is this *[One], that even the wind and the sea obey ***Him?" And they came to the other side of the sea,..." John 1:14b, "and we beheld *His glory, glory as of the only-begotten from the ***Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:18, "No man has seen *God at any time; the only begotten ***God, who is in the bosom of the Father, He/ has explained Him." John 1:25, "And they asked him [John the baptist], and said to him, "Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the *Prophet? John answered them saying, "I baptize in water, but among you stands ***One you do not know." John 10:30, "*I and the ***Father are One." John 1:31, "And I [John] did not recognize *Him, but in order that ***He might be manifested to Israel, I came baptizing in water." John 1:33, "And I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, 'He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon *Him, this is the ***One who...And I [John] have seen, and have borne witness that this is the Son of God." Who then is this One? He is the only-begotten God. This Man whom they did not know, this Man has explained Spirit. John 6:27, "...for on Him the Father, even *God, has set ***His seal." 6 | Who is this One who even forgives sins? | Mark 4:35 | Ray | 56700
Who is this who even forgives sins? Luke 7:48, "And *He said to her, "Your sins have been forgiven." And those who were reclining at the table with ***Him began to say to themselves, "Who is this [man] who even forgives sins?" And He/ said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."" So I would say who is this [Man]? The Son of God/. John 13:13, "You call (Me) Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so *I am. If ***I then, the Lord and Teacher/, washed your feet you also ought to wash one another's feet." From the heart, Ray |

7 | Who is this One who even forgives sins? | Mark 4:35 | New Creature | 56739
1John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. |

8 | Who is this One who even forgives sins? | Mark 4:35 | Ray | 56761
Hi New Creature, You have chosen an excellent reference in answer. The version you have chosen reads "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins..." This "he" is speaking of God because Jesus is in the Father (Light) and God was in Him. He Himself was in the world and is the Light of the world. The question for me has always been, "Why does one have no problem with calling Jesus God's Son, yet one does not want to call Him a Man?" My question for you then is, which is most accurate? "Who is this man who even forgives sins?" Luke 7:49. Or,..."Who is this Man who even forgives sins?" Is he faithful or is He faithful? You can read which ever version you prefer and will read regularly, but keep always in mind the One who will save you. The flesh profits nothing. This Son is Spirit. Don't get me wrong, the Son is not the Holy Spirit; but if He is God, and He is, then He is Spirit come to earth in the form of God but in the likeness of men. From the heart, Ray |

9 | Who is this One who even forgives sins? | Mark 4:35 | New Creature | 56795
Concerning the Son's identity the following verse comes to mind. Matt. 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Jesus was Emmanuel -meaning God with us. Jesus can be said to be the God-man. Fully God and fully man The Holy Spirit is God in us. The Holy Spirit is the life giving Spirit. I don't fully understand the Trinity, but I believe it. One day we will more fully understand |

Hi New Creature, Who then is this One, that even the wind and the sea obey Him? My question for people is still, "Why do you think that He was fully man?" New Creature, you have written about the Son's identity to your mind. Why do you think of Him as a man and not as the Son of Man? You said that the Holy Spirit is God in us. I would also say that Christ is God in us, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:28, "And we proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, that we may present every man complete in Christ. And for this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me." So what I see is that Christ dwells in us and His power or, His spirit if you will, also works within us. Thus I would go with "the life-giving spirit", in the lower case. There are two occurances of the "life-giving spirit". They deal with fearing the Lord and with wisdom. Proverbs 15:29, "The Lord is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous...He [he] whose ear listens to reproof acquires understanding. The fear of the *Lord is the instruction for wisdom, And before honor comes humility." John 9:31, "We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is *God-fearing..."*******I wonder why people in this passage do not know where He is from and why they are saying that He is a sinner? Later on the one who was given sight was asked if he believed in the Son of Man. And Jesus told him that he [the blind man] has both seen Him, and He is that One. And He was worshiped there. John 6:62, "'What then if you should behold the Son of Man ascending where He was before? It is the [spirit] who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. But there are some of you who do not believe.' For *Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe,..." I desire that people learn to think of Jesus as the God/Man rather than the God/man. The flesh profits nothing.
