Who is "Father God"? Where is he metioned in scripture? If this is not a name of God, then what is the affect of its use in prayer, church, etc. Please also see "Dagda, Dahgdha, The Father God" that are not in the Bible; and, "Father God" (the book) by Silvia Brown.
2 | Who is "Father God"? | Mark 14:36 | stjohn | 188358
Hi Rich, God most certainly is our father, that is if you are a child of God, if not then He most certainly (my) father. When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, He said when you pray say our [Father] who art in heaven, ect. And He also said we can call out to Him, Abba Father, Jesus Himself calls out to Him in the gardin of sorrows. Mark 14:36 And He was saying, "Abba! Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will." thats like saying Daddy Father or Papa just like a child would do with his or her earthly father. As far as your references to the other names they have nothing to do with God the Father in Heaven Creator of Heaven and Eirth. dagdadahgdha... whatever, is an Irish mith, and the other is..... well I don't really know what it is to tell the truth and I'm not sure I care, I've heard that its some kind of father/mother god thing. |

3 | "father god" | Mark 14:36 | rich9562000 | 188361
I am not disputing that God is the Father... I am asking what is the affect of referring to the God by a name ("father god") not found in scripture? (especially if I am dealing with a controlling spirit that wants to only appear to be invoking His name) The purpose in the commandment "not to use the Lord's name in vain" was to show respect to the name, so as not to abuse the authority and power that it invoked. If so, to call upon a name not referred to in scripture would be the same as never invoking His name and the power and authority that it possesses. In this contexts, prayer to a "father god" is no better than a prayer to Ronald McDonald. What does scripture say about the use of His name especially in prayer.
4 | "father god" | Mark 14:36 | skccab | 188371
Morning Rich, We very often begin a prayer by stating to Whom (our Father) and What (God, Creator of All Things in Heaven and in Earth). We go to our Father as loving children knowing He has our best interest at heart. We go to God Almighty because we know He is the one Who can supply all our needs. As an aside, "God" is not the Father's name, anymore than "Father" is His name. Those are descriptive titles of Who and What He is. His name is Yahweh. And before you ask, no a child does NOT approach his/her father, calling him by his name. Especially not his/her Heavenly Father. Does this answer your question? blessings cheri |
