1 | What was in the cup, wine? | Mark 14:25 | Timaeus | 191853
In the account of The Last Supper, in Matthew and Luke, it only says that Jesus took the cup and blessed it. I have always been told there was wine in the cup. Is there a verse that describes what was in the cup at the Last Supper?
2 | What was in the cup, wine? | Mark 14:25 | Barach | 191854
The context of Mark 14, particularly the surrounding verses of verse 25 make it clear that it was "wine" in the cup. Mark 14:23 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. Mark 14:24 And He said to them, "This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Mark 14:25 "Truly I say to you, I will never again drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God." |

3 | What was in the cup, wine? | Mark 14:25 | Timaeus | 191880
Thank you, Barach. The fruit of the vine most likely is wine, as I now see. My problem is in Jesus actually drinking wine, as I feel this would make His blood impure through the dilution with alcohol. I do not see here where Jesus actually drank the wine, do you?
4 | What was in the cup, wine? | Mark 14:25 | Wild Olive Shoot | 191882
The drinking of wine is not condemned biblically, however drunkenness is. Why would wine make ones blood impure? Can you show me this with Scripture? Matthew 26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new Mark 14:25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God. 5 | What was in the cup, wine? | Mark 14:25 | Timaeus | 191889
This is not a Scriptural issue, but a medical one. When one ingests an alcoholic beverage, the alcohol is absorbed into the blood through the stomach lining. This is measured in a percentage value called blood alcohol content, or BAC. Thank you for your reply, may the Lord bless you superbly. Tim |

I must apologize then for I thought this was a place to study Scripture and not medicine. In light of that however, you said wine would make the blood of Jesus impure. Does that not make is scriptural, since Scripture focuses on Christ? So I must ask again, where does Scripture, with all of its writing pertaining to wine, make the claim that by drinking it, your blood is not pure? Stand in His grace, WOS |

7 | What was in the cup, wine? | Mark 14:25 | Timaeus | 192011
Sorry, it appears I have been mistaken. I thought that if alcohol was ingested and entered the bloodstream, the blood would be diluted w/ a foreign substance, making it into an altered state. I thought that Jesus would remain pure absolutely, making His sacrifice acceptable. Thank you all for your input, God bless, and bless God. tim |

8 | What was in the cup, wine? | Mark 14:25 | skccab | 192015
Good morning Timaeus, What are you saying? That now you know that Yeshua did not "remain pure absolutely" due to drinking wine, that His sacrifice (in your view) is not acceptable? Back to basics: the evil is not in the wine, money, food, etc., the evil is in the heart of man and what he does to/for/with all those things. Yeshua's sacrifice was indeed quite acceptable! Cheri |
