So would say there was no politics? There wasn't any structured government? Of course there was. Through out the gospels we have political debates. The trial was in itself political. Pilot could care less if Jesus was God or some lunitic, but the very fact they didn't drag him to the out skirts and stone him to death but rather crucified him for treason, is an indication of political execution. your spirit in tbe spirit |

Greetings SRN! Of course there were politics in Jesus' time, what I was asking for is the source that says that "Fig Tree" refers to a political group. You are correct about Pilate. He didn't care one way or the other. He was simply trying to keep peace among the Jews so that he didn't get into trouble with Rome. The Jews really couldn't stone Jesus without getting into trouble either from the crowds or from Rome, so they wanted Pilate to do their dirty work for them. However, I have never heard of any political group called the "Fig Tree", nor have I heard of any political group lead by or joined by Jesus. Therefore, I understand Mark 13:28 to be exactly what it says it is: a parable about a fig tree. Just as the young shoots on a fig tree indicate that summer is near, even so, the signs Jesus had just listed will indicate that His return is near. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

They did hesitate to stone mary magdalene untill jesus entervened. The law was she should die under jewish law. What authority power influence did Jesus have to stop them? To them he was not messiah and had no authority from God to change the law. He was Rabi was teacher was political spokesman. I was only going back to the actual parable and it's connection to the generation of Fig tree. | ||||||

Hi, SRN; Ok, you have an audience. What is this Fig Tree group you keep referring to? What connection did it have with Jesus? And, assuming the source is not your thumb, what is your source? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks. Peace and grace, Steve aka Indiana Jones |
